I Got You Babe

A rather modern look for the 1965 signature song from Sonny & Cher. The legendary duo performed "I Got You Babe" numerous times on their show throughout its three year run, and one last time during a David Letterman interview in 1987, years after the couple's divorce. But in 2002, Cher sprung up for a special event on February 14, joining her voice with that of R.E.M. singer Michael Stipe to perform "I Got You Babe" for the very first time without Sonny.

Now which artwork do you want to see next, fellow fans? "Perfection", "Hell on Wheels", "Dead Ringer for Love", "Human" or "Main Man"?

Well, I guess this outfit lost some of the magic from the song. D: ("I Got You Babe")

  4. perhaps maybe a sketch of the outfit she wore on Letterman the last time she sang this song with Sonny? this sketch while pretty, does not say I Got You Babe, it doesn't represent the song

    1. Agree with Nick.

But I think, maybe you should do some of the outfits she wore in the 60's when she sang it with Sonny.

  5. Don't you think the outfit on Letterman screams "80'S" a bit loud? It's rather disconnected from the era from which the song is from. :P

Cher had a good flair with this simple yet elegant outfit at the "Love Rocks" event in 2002: not too fancy for the simplicity of the song, neatly accessorized to evoke the "flower power" state of mind from which the song originates from, and the modern blond look symbolizing the longevity of the song's success. And not to forget the meaning of performing it without Sonny: the undeniable proof that she has earned her status as a living legend in the entertainment industry from her very own accomplishments.
